The View is on Octagon Road in Tully, which is the back way between the village center and the hills that define the township's western slope, and the name describes what the room has going for it from the main dining area: a view east across the valley that changes character with the season and the time of day in ways a restaurant with its windows pointing the wrong direction can't replicate.
I've been here enough times to have a clear position on what The View does right: the kitchen handles its category competently and consistently, and the service at the bar and in the dining room operates with the kind of steadiness that regulars depend on. The menu runs to the range of the American bar-and-grill format, with the additions that make sense for a restaurant that's also trying to serve serious dinner customers. I eat in the fish column by habit and the kitchen handles it correctly.
Five stars for the sustained combination of the room, the view, the service quality, and the food execution across multiple visits. A restaurant five minutes from Tully that earns this rating consistently is not a given. The local business community in the Tully-LaFayette-Homer corridor uses The View for the same reasons I do: reliable, comfortable, and priced for the people who live here rather than the passing weekend tourist.
