IMAGE LICENSING TERMS
Accessible, attribution-based licensing for local businesses, agencies, and news.
The Short Version
Pay a small flat fee, download the image, credit the photographer, use it on your website or in your publication. That's it.
These licenses are designed to be competitive with stock photography subscriptions and accessible to local web agencies, news outlets, bloggers, and small businesses who need quality regional photography without the complexity of traditional fine art licensing.

1. License Tiers & Pricing

All tiers include both a web-optimized JPEG and a full-resolution 300dpi print JPEG. Files are delivered via secure download link valid for 72 hours. Re-download requests honored within 30 days of purchase.
Subscription renews monthly. Cancel anytime. Active subscription required at time of use — images downloaded under a canceled subscription may not continue to be used.
2. Attribution Requirement
All tiers require attribution. Attribution is an honor-system requirement — we trust you to credit the work. Consistent crediting benefits both parties: it builds your credibility with readers and drives discovery of new work.

For online use: credit should appear adjacent to the image. A hyperlink to joshuasunforged.com is appreciated but not required.
For print use: credit in caption or photo credit line is sufficient.
For web agency use on client sites: the credit appears on the client's site, not on the agency's. This is acceptable.

4. Web Agency Terms
A single subscription covers an agency's use of images across multiple client projects, provided:
- Each client site credits the image as specified in Section 2.
- Images are not sublicensed, resold, or transferred to the client as files they may redistribute.
- The subscription remains active while images are in use on client sites.
The subscription model is intentionally designed to be practical for agencies managing multiple client websites. One subscription, unlimited downloads, unlimited client projects. No per-project licensing paperwork.
5. News & Editorial Terms
Images licensed under any tier may be used in news and editorial contexts, including:
- Online articles and news stories
- Print newspaper and magazine editorial
- Non-commercial newsletters and email publications
- Non-profit organization communications
Images may not be used to illustrate paid sponsored content, native advertising, or brand-funded editorial without a separate commercial license.
6. File Delivery & Technical Specs
Each licensed image is delivered as two files:
- Web JPEG: sRGB, 72dpi, long edge ≥2,000px — optimized for screen use
- Print JPEG: sRGB, 300dpi, long edge ≥6,000px — suitable for print reproduction up to approximately 16" x 20"
Files are delivered via a secure, expiring download link sent to your purchase email. Links expire after 72 hours. Contact [email protected] within 30 days of purchase for a re-send.
Embedded IPTC/XMP copyright metadata is present in all delivered files. Metadata removal is prohibited.
Files may be resized or cropped for your use. Color adjustments for reproduction matching are permitted. Substantial manipulation that misrepresents the original subject or location is not permitted.
7. What These Licenses Don't Cover
The following uses require a separate commercial license. Contact [email protected] for pricing:
- Paid advertising (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, print advertising, billboards, etc.)
- Product packaging, merchandise, or any item manufactured for retail sale
- Print-on-demand products (apparel, home goods, etc.) for commercial sale
- Television, film, or video production
- Any use in AI/ML training datasets or generative AI systems
- NFT minting or blockchain tokenization
These uses are not inherently declined — they simply require a different pricing conversation. Most can be turned around quickly via email.
8. Copyright & Ownership
All images remain the exclusive copyright of Joshua Gallagher (Joshua Sunforged). Purchase of a license transfers no ownership, copyright, or intellectual property rights. Licensor retains the right to continue licensing the same image to other parties unless an exclusive license has been separately negotiated.
Unauthorized use, use beyond the scope of the purchased tier, or use after subscription cancellation constitutes copyright infringement under 17 U.S.C. § 501 and may be subject to statutory damages.
9. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York. Disputes shall be resolved in Onondaga County, New York.
