It showed up on the way to somewhere else, which is usually how the good ones find you. For this part of central New York, Roosevelt Inn of Hyde Park holds its own.
The trail runs about two miles before it opens into the open meadow section. That transition is abrupt in the best way.
The park was quiet at the hour we arrived. Mid-week, mid-morning. The right conditions for being there.
