Eh, it's basically Applebees.

That's the review. Three stars because the food is hot, the servers are competent, and the room is clean, which is what three stars means when the concept doesn't deliver on its premise. P.F. Chang's is positioned in the national chain landscape as an elevated pan-Asian dining experience. The food at the Destiny USA location in Syracuse does not deliver an elevated pan-Asian dining experience. It delivers a serviceable meal in a room designed to look like a place where interesting things might happen.

Food at two out of five. Service at three. Atmosphere at one. The atmosphere score is the honest one: the Destiny USA context, the mall-scale room, the lighting and acoustics calibrated for maximum seating turnover, these are not the conditions that produce an atmosphere worth rating above one. The food follows from the institutional kitchen operation that produces it. Nothing tasted off. Nothing tasted like it came from a kitchen with a point of view.

The service was functioning, which is what a three on service means. The math lands at three stars overall because the experience cleared the floor and didn't embarrass itself. That's the grade. There are better uses of a dinner hour in Syracuse. The surrounding Destiny USA complex has other options and the city itself has restaurants worth the drive. This one earned its place on the list by being exactly what I said it was.
