The Minne-Ha-Ha is the vintage-styled sternwheel steamer in the Lake George Steamboat Company fleet, and it operates on the southern end of the lake on shorter cruise routes than the Lac du Saint Sacrement. The vessel design, the sternwheel paddle configuration, the period aesthetic, makes the cruise feel categorically different from the larger boats even when the water and mountains are the same. Some people specifically want this experience and it's the right product for them.
I logged this check-in in March 2023 on the dock walk that included all three vessels. The Minne-Ha-Ha in winter storage on its dock had the specific quality of a vessel built for summer and living in a February environment: the bright paint against the pale winter light, the paddle wheel idle, the whole thing waiting for the season it was designed for.
For a Lake George visit with kids who want something that looks like it belongs in a different century, the Minne-Ha-Ha is the booking. The shorter routes make it accessible even with a limited afternoon schedule. Coming back for the summer version.
