The Center for the Arts of Homer is in the David Harum House on South Main Street in Homer, which is a genuine historic property doing something genuinely useful: keeping performance and exhibition space alive in a small town that would otherwise have neither. Homer is a village of a few thousand people. Having a dedicated arts space at all is meaningful.
I logged this in February 2023 on the same day as the Lake George area properties. No rating at the time but the presence on the list reflects the place's significance in the Homer-Cortland arts picture. The Center hosts performances, exhibitions, and community events at a scale that fits the venue and the town.
If you're in Homer for anything else — Nicky C's for lunch, The Exchange for dinner, Hobo's for a drink — the Center is the cultural anchor of the main street that makes the village feel like a place rather than just a pass-through. Worth knowing it exists and checking what's scheduled.
